BC Rockies Treasure Trails
The partners in BC Rockies Treasure Trails have established geocaches in various locations up and down the valley in special places that hi-light the wonders and beauty of the Windermere Valley. The geocaches are on trails or loops that make nice and easy day-trips. Take the time to enjoy the scenery and the wildlife while you search. Come back often – we will be adding more trails and caches.
Geological Trail
The Source of the Columbia River
This interpretive stroll to the source of the Columbia River is perfect for every
family member (including dogs).
Enter Canal Flats via Burns Avenue. Turn left onto Shaughnessy Street then left
onto Beatty Avenue. There you will see the Trail Head (pictured right).
Take time to read the interpretive signs along the way. This truly is a fascinating river, for both humans
and wildlife.

Source 2 - Forest Cache
When a tree falls in the forest, its nutrients are recycled back into the earth to be used by neighbouring living trees. This process provides an on-going cycle that keeps our forests healthy. Look for a tree in the recycling process. Get Coordinates |
